💡 Is Brevo Right for You?

Choosing the right email marketing software depends on your business goals, size, and budget. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide whether Brevo is the right choice for you in 2025.

✅ Recommended If…

💼 1. You’re a Small or Medium Business on a Budget

Brevo is an excellent option if you want affordable, scalable email marketing. Its pricing is 72% cheaper than Mailchimp and based on email volume, not contact limits — meaning you can store unlimited contacts without paying extra. This makes it ideal for startups, solopreneurs, and growing small businesses.

📢 2. You Want Multi-Channel Marketing in One Platform

Brevo combines everything small businesses need to manage marketing and sales: email campaigns, SMS, WhatsApp messages, live chat, and a built-in CRM. It’s a true all-in-one platform that helps you reach your audience across multiple channels — from one dashboard.

🧭 3. You’re New to Email Marketing

If you’re just starting out, you’ll love how simple and intuitive Brevo is. The interface walks you through every step — from creating your first email to launching automation workflows. Its drag-and-drop editor and guided setup make it beginner-friendly yet professional.

🛒 4. You Run a Small eCommerce Store

Brevo integrates seamlessly with popular eCommerce platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce. You can send abandoned cart reminders, cross-sell products, and connect your store to multiple marketing channels such as email, Facebook Ads, SMS, and WhatsApp.
For larger online stores, though, you might want to explore advanced eCommerce tools like Omnisend.

🚫 Not Recommended If…

🧪 1. You Need Advanced Landing Pages or A/B Testing on a Budget

Landing pages and A/B testing are available only on Business and Enterprise plans (starting at $18/month).
If you want a free or cheaper alternative, MailerLite offers up to 10 free landing pages, while both MailerLite and Moosend provide unlimited landing pages starting around $9/month.

🔁 2. You Require Advanced Automation

Brevo’s automation is excellent for small businesses, but it’s not as advanced as tools like ActiveCampaign, which offer deeper segmentation and more complex workflows.

Getting Started with Brevo

Brevo interface

Setting up your Brevo account is quick and easy — it takes about 5 minutes from start to finish.

After entering your email and password, you’ll need to activate your account via email. Brevo will then ask a few simple questions about your business type and contact list size to personalize your setup.

Next, Brevo recommends importing your contacts, which only takes about 2 minutes for 500 contacts. Once that’s done, you can create your first email campaign. Using one of Brevo’s ready-made templates, I built a complete campaign in just 8 minutes.

From there, you’re free to explore all of Brevo’s tools — from email automation to CRM and chat.
👉 You can also create a free Brevo account to start sending up to 300 emails per day, perfect for beginners who want to test the platform before upgrading.

In-Depth Brevo Review: Email Marketing and CRM Platform

Brevo makes creating and sending newsletters and marketing campaigns easy. It keeps all the options in one place and guides you through all the steps. The drag-and-drop email editor is straightforward with 40+ good-looking, responsive templates.

Creating and Sending Newsletters with Brevo

Brevo-review-email-and-automation-campaign-options

Let’s start with the basics. If you just want to send newsletters, choose the Email option. In Campaign Settings (below), you first choose your email list.

Add a subject line and preview text with the option to personalize both with any custom attributes you have.

subject-line-personalization-in-Brevo

Now to design and write your newsletter. The drag-and-drop editor is the default. An alternative option for writing HTML code is in a tab called “Code Your Own.”

Brevo-review-code-your-own-email-building-options

To use the drag-and-drop editor, you select a template. We’ll look at Brevo’s templates shortly. But let’s jump straight into the editor.

Like the rest of the platform, Brevo’s drag-and-drop editor comes with a user-friendly interface. The main menu to the left has 3 tabs:

  • Content: Lists 12 content blocks to add to your template.
  • Saved blocks: If you customize content blocks to look the way you want, you can save them here to use later.
  • Design: Styling options for the entire template.

The template design tab has styling rules for all text. And you can set a background color or background image for all templates. You can also access your Brand Library from the Design tab.

To edit and style individual blocks, you just click on them. This opens up a window to the left for each type of content. Here’s what it looks like when you click on an image:

There’s a new image editing tool that lets you edit and make eye-catching graphics.

Brevo-email-marketing-software-image-editor-1

It took me just a few minutes to make the design above. The interface is very straightforward. But it still gives you loads of editing options. If you like Canva, you will love it. It’s a great tool. There are pre-made templates to get started with. And if you haven’t got any images of your own to upload, Brevo has 8,000 stock images to choose from.

content-personalization-options-Brevo

You can personalize the content in text blocks. This includes titles, headers, and paragraph blocks. When you click on a text block, an Add Personalization option appears. Just like with subject lines, a contact attribute inserts personalization.

In the block visibility, you can add conditional content and personalization. For example, if you invite people to an event, set a condition that the country or location tag has to be in that area. Otherwise, it isn’t included.

Brevo-block-visibility

As for other email campaign features, Brevo offers A/B testing, but only on the Business plan and above. A/B testing lets you send different versions of a campaign to a sample of your contacts to compare performance.

To set up A/B testing, you need to select an element to test and a sample size. You can A/B test subject lines and content.

Just to pick out a couple of advanced settings, Brevo is big on privacy law compliance. That’s what the Unsubscribe Page options are about. Providing clear unsubscribe options is important under GDPR rules. Subscribers have to have the choice to opt out of receiving emails if they choose.

Brevo has a Google Analytics integration to automatically include UTM tags for your newsletters and other email marketing campaigns.

activating-Google-Analytics-tracking-in-Brevo

Overall, Brevo makes creating and sending newsletters and marketing campaigns convenient. It keeps all the options in one place and guides you through every step, which is great for first-timers. The drag-and-drop email editor is straightforward, and it’s great that you can create your own graphics to bring your emails to life.

Email Templates in Brevo

Brevo Email Templates

Brevo offers 48 pre-designed templates to choose from — and this number may continue to grow over time.

In addition to the designed templates, you’ll also find 4 layout templates. These don’t include any special styling but provide a clean structure with content blocks, making them perfect for building your own designs from scratch.

Brevo-email-templates-layout-1

Inside the Layouts tab, you’ll also find blank templates if you prefer to start from zero.

A standout feature connected to templates is the Brand Library. This tool allows you to import your website’s brand style directly into your email templates. Once your Brand Library is set up, the colors, fonts, and logo from your website automatically become the default settings for your templates.

If you don’t have a website or simply want to update your branding, no worries — you can easily change your logo, colors, and fonts at any time. For example, I used the image I created in Brevo’s image editor as my logo.

While Brevo doesn’t offer as many pre-designed templates as some other platforms, the ones available are professionally crafted, visually appealing, and easy to edit. Plus, the Brand Library feature makes it simple to customize your templates to match your unique brand identity.

Managing Contacts in Brevo

The first step in creating an email campaign with Brevo is selecting your contact list. If you already have contacts saved elsewhere, you can easily import them in bulk directly into Brevo.

for example:

options-for-importing-contacts-into-Brevo-1

You can upload your data using a spreadsheet (.csv or .xlsx) or a basic text (.txt) file. If your contacts are saved in another format, you can simply copy and paste them into Brevo. The platform gives you a preview screen so you can visually confirm that all the data looks correct before importing.

Brevo-import-preview-for-contacts

Data mapping in Brevo is simple and intuitive. This means you can match each column in your file (like Name, Email, Country) with the corresponding contact fields in Brevo.

data-mapping-after-importing-contacts-in-Brevo

Apart from the email field, all other attributes are set to “don’t import” by default — giving you full control over which data gets added. You can connect these to existing attributes or even create custom ones to suit your marketing needs.

List Management and Segmentation

Managing your email lists in Brevo is both powerful and straightforward. You can easily create segments based on user behavior or contact details.

For example:

  • Filter contacts by actions (like opening an email or clicking a link)
  • Filter by attributes (like location, signup date, or customer type)
time-options-link-click-filters-in-Brevo-1

Brevo allows you to combine multiple filters using AND/OR operators, which makes complex segmentation effortless. You can even combine data from email, SMS, and transactional messages to build precise segments.

pre-made-segments-in-Brevo

To make things faster, Brevo includes 10 pre-made segments under Contacts > Use segment template. One of the most useful is the Unengaged Contacts segment — helping you remove inactive subscribers or create re-engagement campaigns to win them back.

Website Tracking & Automation Setup

When you start using Brevo’s automation tools, the platform will ask you to add a small tracking code to your website. This enables Brevo to track user behavior — such as link clicks or page visits — and trigger automated emails based on these actions.

For instance, if someone visits a product page but doesn’t complete their purchase, Brevo can automatically send them a follow-up email or discount offer to encourage them to buy.

Marketing Automation Templates

Automation might sound complicated, but Brevo makes it beginner-friendly with 8 ready-made automation templates. Each one is a pre-built workflow that you can easily customize by editing or adding your own emails.

Examples include:

  • Product Page Follow-Up: Triggers an email after a contact views a specific product page but doesn’t buy.
  • Abandoned Cart Sequence: Automatically sends reminders to customers who added items to their cart but didn’t check out.

You can adjust delays (e.g., wait 24 hours before sending) and add exit conditions so the workflow stops once a customer makes a purchase.

Workflow Editor

Brevo’s visual workflow editor makes automation setup easy.

  • Click ( + ) to add a new action or step.
  • Click on any step to edit or delete it.
  • Add multiple entry points so contacts can enter the same automation from different forms or triggers.

The editor also supports multichannel automation — meaning you can send emails, SMS, WhatsApp messages, or push notifications from one workflow.

You can even use automation to manage your contact lists automatically, such as adding or removing contacts based on their actions or engagement level.

Smart Conditions

To make your automations smarter, Brevo includes time delays and if/else conditions.

  • Time delays pause the sequence for a specific period or until a particular action occurs.
  • If/else conditions split the workflow into two paths — Yes (if the condition is met) or No (if not).

This flexibility allows you to personalize every customer’s journey, reduce dead ends in your automations, and keep engagement high at every stage.

Sending SMS with Brevo

Brevo isn’t just for email—it’s also a simple and effective SMS marketing tool. Sending bulk SMS messages is easy. Just type your message, add your recipients, and click send.

for example:

setting-up-an-sms-campaign-in-Brevo-1

To use SMS marketing, you’ll need your contacts’ phone numbers and their permission to message them (just like with emails). Since Brevo is based in Europe, there are a few compliance rules to note:

  • If you’re sending SMS messages to the US or Canada, you’ll need to register for a toll-free number to meet local regulations.
  • For other regions, you can simply add a mobile number when setting up your campaign.

You can also personalize your SMS messages using contact details. Just include attributes inside curly brackets, like {FIRSTNAME}, to make your messages feel more personal.

Another great feature is Brevo’s shortcodes — these are shorter numbers (usually 5 or 6 digits) used for replies or quick interactions in SMS campaigns. They’re shorter than standard phone numbers and help save space in your message.

In short: Brevo’s SMS marketing is fast, compliant, and highly personalized—perfect for connecting with customers on their phones.

Brevo Social Media Tools: WhatsApp Campaigns and Facebook Ads

Brevo also helps you expand beyond email and SMS by offering social media marketing tools — including WhatsApp campaigns and Facebook Ads.

For example:

Brevo-WhatsApp-campaigns-3

🟢 WhatsApp Campaigns

WhatsApp campaigns work much like SMS, but with a few setup steps:

  • You’ll need a WhatsApp Business Account.
  • A Facebook account linked to the same company email used for your Brevo account.
  • A dedicated phone number to connect with Brevo’s WhatsApp Business Platform API.

Once you’ve set that up, you can easily send messages, updates, or promotions to your customers directly through WhatsApp — a channel with high open and engagement rates.

🔵 Facebook Ads Integration

Brevo also allows you to run and manage Facebook Ads directly from your dashboard (available starting from the Business plan). You can:

  • Target Facebook users based on interests, demographics, or behavior.
  • Schedule your ads and set your budget.
  • Design professional ad creatives using Brevo’s simple drag-and-drop editor — no design experience needed.

Brevo CRM

for example:

Brevo-sales-pipeline-1

Brevo’s Sales CRM is built to help small teams manage customer relationships efficiently — and the best part is, it’s completely free. It organizes all your customer data, tracks engagement, and helps you manage daily tasks with ease and speed.

Here’s what Brevo Sales CRM offers:

🧩 Pipelines

Create and customize different sales stages to track how deals progress through your funnel. You can assign specific tasks to each stage, helping your team stay organized and move leads smoothly from prospect to paying customer.

💼 Deals

Each deal represents a sales opportunity. You can assign deals to pipelines, monitor their progress, and compare performance across different sales stages — making it easier to identify what’s working and where improvement is needed.

Tasks

Tasks are the actions your team needs to complete to move deals forward. You can assign them to team members, set deadlines, and even automate repetitive actions to save time and boost productivity.

Overall, Brevo’s CRM gives you a simple yet powerful system to organize sales, track performance, and close deals faster — all in one easy-to-use platform.

Getting New Leads with Brevo Landing Pages and Forms

Brevo makes lead generation simple with its built-in forms and landing pages. You can easily create custom, branded pages to capture leads and grow your email list — no coding required.

for example:

designing-a-form-in-Brevo-1

🧾 Creating Forms in Brevo

All form options are found under the Contacts tab in the main menu. When you start a new form, Brevo guides you through a clear, step-by-step setup process.

In the design step, you’ll see a basic outline template that’s easy to customize. Using the Build tab, you can drag and drop different content blocks and fields into position:

  • Content blocks let you add text, images, or decorative elements to make your form visually appealing.
  • Fields are where you collect data like names, email addresses, or custom information. You can also add dropdowns, checkboxes, or yes/no options.
Brevo-sign-up-confirmation-settings

Under the Form Design tab, you can fine-tune your form’s look — choose colors, add background images, change fonts, and adjust layout spacing.

💡 Pro Tip: Brevo strongly recommends using a double opt-in (or “double confirmation email”) to ensure you’re collecting valid leads and staying compliant with email regulations.

🌐 Designing Landing Pages with Brevo

Creating landing pages in Brevo (available on the Business plan) is just as intuitive. The editor works on a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) basis — so you can see real-time changes as you type or move elements around.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Hover over any section to reveal editing options — add, duplicate, or delete blocks.
  • Click inside a block to access settings on the left panel, such as button size, color, and layout.
  • Use Brevo’s built-in image editor to crop, resize, or enhance images with filters, text, or effects.

Building landing pages for lead capture is straightforward — instead of embedding forms across multiple pages, you can simply design a dedicated, conversion-focused landing page for each campaign.

Brevo’s landing page and form tools make it incredibly easy to design, customize, and launch lead generation campaigns that actually convert.

Bravo FAQs

1. What is Brevo, and how is it different from Sendinblue?

Brevo is the new name for Sendinblue, rebranded to reflect its growth beyond just email marketing. While Sendinblue started as an email tool, Brevo now offers a complete marketing suite — including email, SMS, WhatsApp campaigns, automation, CRM, and more — all in one platform designed to help businesses build lasting customer relationships.

2. Is Brevo really free to use?

Yes! Brevo offers a Forever Free Plan, allowing you to send up to 300 emails per day with access to most core features — including automation, templates, and contact management. You can even store up to 100,000 contacts, which makes it one of the most generous free plans available for small businesses and beginners.

3. How does Brevo help with marketing automation?

Brevo’s automation builder lets you create smart workflows that automatically send emails or messages based on customer actions — like sign-ups, clicks, or website visits. You can use pre-built templates (such as welcome emails or abandoned cart reminders) or build your own custom sequences without needing any coding skills.

4. Can I use Brevo for more than just email marketing?

Absolutely. Brevo goes beyond email by offering multi-channel marketing tools — including SMS, WhatsApp messages, Facebook ads, live chat, and CRM features. This allows you to manage your entire marketing funnel and customer communication from one platform instead of switching between different tools.

5. Is Brevo worth paying for its premium plans?

If you’re serious about growing your business, yes. The paid plans start at just $9/month and unlock advanced tools like A/B testing, landing pages, detailed analytics, and multi-user access. The Business Plan is ideal for teams that need automation and performance tracking, while small businesses can easily start with the free or Starter plan and upgrade as they grow.
